** Juny Update*
Because of the recent art thefts of my works, I've decided to be more strict about watermarking everything I uppload here
Old image, and other images removed and replaced with this one :3
First Tsurugi - Cloud's sword from Final Fantasy VII AC
In this deviation shows only two of the six swords he use in FFAC. My goal is to make all six of them and if possible, I'll make a short animation of how they work and are assembled together ^^ *thinks highly of myself* *cough*
These models are not finals becase I have to go back to them once I've made all the swords because I need to adjust them to fit eachother >.<
Working with this sword have taken me much more time and research than I thought. I tried to draw reference pictures by studying the swords in the movie.. however it turned out all wrong. *sigh* Getting a clear picture of the sword and the details was hard. It often turned out that the swords where different in different shots. ( Not talking about he switches one of his six swords -_-; )
I would like to thank Raven_237 from ff7acmovie.com for writing an excellent article about the sword(s)! It helped me greatly! Otherwise, I would be stuck in the research and never been able to start modelling it.
Oh btw, I just learned how to use VRay lightning ^^ It looks sooooooo much better now! *does the happy dance* +1 motivation boost ^^ (+99 in render time thou =.=; )
hmmm i love this and i wonder why they couldn't make each individual sword for Cloud in the Dissidia games i know if i am able to get myself into Dissidia 012 i will have access to all 6 swords and, therefore, Omnislash v6 and will be able to attach or draw(depending on if im holding one of them in my free hand or not) one of the blades as a move(which is only usable by that outfit which uses it)
okay man, this really rocks. i am doing 3D stuff and things right now, but i cant make anything near that, thats Really awes0me> in what program do you work? if Cinema 4D could you make a Simple sword tutorial or something? 0.0
Thanks I use Autodesk 3dsmax when I work with 3D. However C4D is just as good software as the one I use. If you like this sword and C4D, then you should check out [link] By Wen-JR, which is entirely made in C4D.
Hi Mogcaiz, I Liked your work. Must say you've done a lot of research for your work. Commendable work indeed. I was going through the comments, and saw that your research on the sword suggests that it is practically infeasible to recreate it to max accuracy level. I've done a 2-month research myself, and i have finally found a way to make it to 95% accuracy. Even I thought it couldn't be done coz Square Enix had used different versions in the movie.
I've already started work, and sketched out different hidden mechanisms to lock the swords together without any compromise. Believe me, after seeing so many crappy versions(physical) of it, I was determined to create the most accurate one.
It took me 3 months to create the detailed lower base portion-or 8% of the base sword. Imagine a year or two to complete it. I've incorporated a mechanism to change the base sword from normal to battle mode. And there are a dozen more mechanisms.
I've previously made the sword wield by the witch-king of angmar in LOTR.
Let me know if you'd like to see its different stages in the making.
