Smacked together the remaining pictures from a photoshoot of the sword. :') Here is the result of 1-2 months of hard work ^^ I was to supposed to finish it to London Expo in May, but couldnt make it in time. So I had an additional month to work with it till I finished it to Desucon'5 the 26th June.
For those who weren't there and watched the competition, I can inform you with the joyfull news that I reached the finalist stage and won the prize for best costume weapon/props!
... HHAHAHAHA :') So much social life sacrifized for this one glorious moment on the scene It was great fun thou!
we need to have a proper chat, cause you have done something amazing here, and im just starting to craft my own things lately, and could use some advice
In short, I've glued two ends of a cardboard together so it forms a "V". This makes the edge usually a bit uneven, so I sand them so it becomes a bit more pointy and reaply glue and other good stuff to let the cardboard soak in so it becomes sturdy It's not really that sharp btw.
I get what you mean, but its how it looks that makes your sword so amazing. by what i can tell by the youtube video, you sanded it down, but theres like 2 layers before you get to the wooden sword thats why i am amased at how good it looks.
Did you use foam cardboard for the inside, and just hard cardboad for the out side? reason i ask is when you sand it down, we should be able to see layers from inside out. anyways you did a great job of it
Thank you for replying, really like your work, i might have a few more questions at some point in the future, so im sorry if i end up troubling you later on
I think this is the best Noctis sword Iv'e seen!!! can i bother you with some question on how you did some of it? i'm trying to make the same sword now myself
